Okay...I have a serious question for those who are big on recruiting.Those of you who know me know I don't follow recruiting closely and have zero trust or faith in highly subjective star rankings generated by some fat, out-of-shape guy who didn't even play college football.
Some fans live and die with the recruitment of Player X, his star rankings and composite score, his commitment to OU, followed by his "After much thought and prayer, I've decided to open up my recruiting," followed by his commitment somewhere else, followed by his switching somewhere else on signing day. It is to these people I direct this question:
Of the five players committed to OU (Keyon Brown, Joshua Bates, Erik McCarty, Kaleb Spencer, Jackson Arnold), there are four 3 star players and one 4 star player. Are you distressed that we aren't loading up on 4* & 5* players? OU's recruiting class is ranked #37 right now. I believe Lincoln TBOW's 2023 class at OU was rated #1 before all the defections.
I'm curious to read why or why you are not concerned. I expect a litany of "because Jerry Schmidt is back" responses, but Jerry Schmidt is only one piece of the puzzle and he was with us for many years; it only resulted in 1 national championship 22 years ago, and none for texsa a&m. He can't make a 4.56 guy run a 4.32 forty.

I scoff at the "but it's a dry heat" BS. I was in Sacramento the week before last and it was 102° while I was there. When you're in triple digits, the humidity is irrelevant. That "dry heat" was still a very miserable 102°.
It's only supposed to be 63° in Seattle today, 30% chance of rain. That's my kind of Spring day.

My cousin just moved back to KS from Phoenix. He would agree with the notion that triple digits is hot and it doesn't matter the humidity

There is a big difference, imo, once you get out of the sun. I have been in a lot of places with 95 - 100 degree temerature, but in the shade and a mister and it can be comfortable. Now if you are in the sun, it can be brutal. If your vehicle is parked in the sun, it can get intense in your vehicle. Yesterday, I walked 5 miles with it at about 100 degrees with single digit humidity and it was alright. I feel heat can be uncomfortable to very uncomfortable depending on sun or shade. Cold can be painful to very painful and you can't hide. I live in the midwest for a few years including what was called the 2nd worse winter on record, temperature wise. Next winter, I lived in Dallas. I have spent a lot of time in the UK and find day after day of overcast to be depressing I have worked Houston and New Orleans, where when you are getting off the plane the humidity just falls on you like a steaming blanket.
I grew up in central Oklahoma without air conditioning and did not have a place that had air conditioning until about 20 and my first car with air conditioning was when I was 21, (5th car). So, I can manage heat better than drizzle.

I will buy that, if you also say that cold is cold and it is no different than if it is a wet cold or a dry cold. I am in the camp that there is a difference between being in London at 38 degree cloudy overcast drizzle and being in Kansas in 38 degrees and in the sun. jmo
And if your cousin feels that in the shade in 95 degrees with 10% humidity is no different than being in the shade and 95 degrees at 55% humdity, I will agree to disagree.

Several thoughts:
1) Team rankings in June have very little correlation with team rankings after signing day. 2) With the way BV recruits commits will come later but there will probably be fewer flips. 3) A given player's star rating will change depending on who he commits to. Bama's players tend to move up the star ranking after they commit. "If Saban (or coach X) wants them, then they must be better than we thought." 4) A coaching staff that trusts their own evaluations and ability to develop players will do better with lesser ranked players. (The coaches know more than the journalists) This is part of the reasons players ratings change depending on who they commit to.
This ump should face some kind of consequences for this. A player or coach who touched an ump like this would have been tossed and probably suspended.
i understand his sentiment, not that it was appropriate- but hitters NEED to do less admiring of their hits/HR's- act like you've been there before, show some humility... too many "planet me" types out there already
