So, quick question here. What will your take be if/when OU turns it all around this year and is back in contention for the B12 crown? If the defense turns around like BV hopes/expects it will, this team will now WIN those one-score games they dropped last year and they are looking at a 10-win-type season once again. Is that satisfactory? This rebuild has been three years in the making and LiaR bailed before he had to do it himself.
I'm trying not to be a crimson-colored glasses guy, but if that defense improves, even marginally, this team is three wins (at minimum) better than last season. Do I think OU will win a natty? Likely will not happen. Do I think they have the potential to win the B12 (again)? Absolutely. There's a lot of work to be done to get to that point, but this is not a lost cause.
Now, if the defense CONTINUES to be an abject failure...
BV has Gary Gibbs (another boot licker) written all over him so I don’t expect things to improve greatly.
Baylor will be better. texsas will be better. TCU will be very good. etc.
Quiet honestly, I am more concerned with the entire OU organization becoming sane again in their approach to students, staff and athletes over on field performance.
I think the Gundy deal set this program back decades at least.
Football is a violent game and like you, it paid for my undergrad and I personally could not play for folks that lack the integrity and moral courage like our current HBC and AD. We saw this same scenario play out after Switzer was forced out.
OU has a toxic culture and I think that will continue to leak out into lack of National Championships etc.
Joe C is the longest serving AD in the NCAA and we have followed this Boren mafia crap show for 3 decades of mediocrity and scandals and wokeness…it is time for real change at OU
I love OU and OU football but it has lost its soul and that is where my anger and hostility festers.
If you enable injustice then you just get more injustice.
