Looking at the stats these two teams are remarkably close on paper look at the per game averages:
Passing O: OU 352 vs UT 287 Rushing O: OU 158 vs UT 192 Scoring O: OU 47 vs UT 36
Passing D: OU 213 vs UT 196 Rushing D: OU 106 vs UT 95 Scoring D: OU 11 vs UT 13
Really the 2 biggest differences on paper favor OU with the passing game and scoring offense. UT gets credit for beating Bama, which I suppose that earns them the right to be favored, but Bama did struggle with USF, so as long as OU doesn’t shoot themselves in the foot they should have every chance to win this game.
I saw an article headline in the old thread talking about how tbow still has to spend a lot of time defending his defense and it got me thinking about it. Does TBOW really believe in Grinch or is he such an ego maniac control freak that he can’t handle anyone else being seen as successful on his staff?
Does he want to be seen as this offensive genius that can do it all with his offense and doesn’t NEED a good D? Because that’s completely absurd, yet here we are watching the same failed D he had at OU, winning shootouts against inferior teams.

I really think we will surprise them since they like pretty much everyone else is looking at OU 2022. Texsucks has much more to lose than we do nationwide. Still think Ewers does not play as well when he is pressured. As long as we don't overrun the pocket and pressure him, he will make mistakes. Stopping their run game will be key as well.
Thompson, Anthony, and Nick A will be keys to our success on deep routes.

DG didn't play last year so this will be their first time to play against him. Was disappointed Daniels for Kansas didn't play against them last week because i was hoping to see how they handle a dual threat QB. I hope Lebby has him throw downfield some and not get stuck on short passes only. Thought DG made some good decisions last week against Iowa State's defense. Their 3 deep with you not knowing until the ball is snapped if all cover or if one is coming up takes some good decision making.

Unfortunately, being objective, we are most likely to lose this game. It won't be because of either self-inflicted wounds or the fan-favorite excuse: "the referees screwed us!!"
texsa has played a far better schedule than OU and are more battle-tested as a result. They also smoked us 49-0 last year. It's usually very difficult to make up that kind of difference in one season. We beat texsa 65-13 in Vince Young's first year, then 12-0 in his second year. The third year, VY beat us 45-12. Dillon Gabriel playing in this game doesn't bridge that 49 point differential.
I'm not saying we can't win. Anything can happen in football. But is extremely unlikely. Right now, if it's talent for talent, texsa is better for a change, as they were last year. I'd give us about a 10% chance of winning this game. Let's pray for that 10%!!!!

This year texsa will face our actual offense, not to mention the defense is light years from the one that trotted out in the cotton bowl last year, which I’m not even bagging on them, what do you expect when they were on the field so much because the O did ziltch.

willis didn't run the wildcat the entire game- they threw beville in there for some God awful reason and we folded like a house of cards- had Willis remained in there, it prob wouldn't have resulted in a W but it damned sure wouldn't have been embarrassing as it turned out to be

Beville got thrown out there without any practice reps all week after the game plan was an abject failure. To be honest, I’m surprised Beville is still on this team, if I were the backup QB and my coach had such little confidence in me that he would rather play a TE, I would definitely be hitting the portal.
