With the war drums beating for Russia-Ukraine Deep state play and some talk of a draft how bad would a draft screw up College Football?

It is my understanding that if enrolled in college, you can get a deferment to the end of the current semester.

So, the top schools spend millions in P.R. just to get a kid to sign. Recruiting is a year round competition. If a draft was enacted, all those dollars could be spent in other areas. There would also be a for "free agent" signings for those that did not get drafted.
But but but, oh crap, what if a kid doesn't want to leave home? well dang. This is tough.

There could possibly be a two way process of recruitment and draft. To encourage High School Seniors to participate in a draft, the could be an NIL signing bonus for all that sign up. They would still have the Transfer portal option at the end of their first year, and it would give the institution and year of converting the draftee into a loyal player.

Man, that ain't a bad idea! Each team gets a chance and that means, Bama UGA and Ohio St can't monopolize all the talent. There could be a dollar amount for when you were drafted 1 2 3 10th round etc...

But how would that look? It would take what a week to draft say 25 guys?

It would have to be closely monitored for cheating. Say OU only has room for 23...we couldn't go and get 30 dudes! 85 scholarships only. Or say Bama only drafts 20 and some how arranges for 5***** to "walk-on" they shouldn't be able to by-pass the draft to get top players!!!1

And there would have to be NO transferring allowed in the freshman season to make it a legit exercise!c
