I'm just about done with this socialist dystopia that Obama created. Our company's health insurance SUCKS and we are buried under bills from our sons being at the doc/ER over the past few months. Now the youngest is down with a 103 fever today. I swear, if he NEEDS TO go the doctor again...

If what was reported actually happened, no one should take the risk that he hasn't reformed. In a case like this protecting the potential victims is more important than the abstract idea of giving him a chance. He's made enough money that he should be able to live more comfortably than 99% of the population without having to work. He's not suffering because of being blackballed.

I'm all for second chances in most situations. However, if I had a college aged daughter, there's no way I would leave her on a campus that he's involved with the football program.

But he did blackmail Baylor into paying his buyout.

I don't follow him very closely anymore, but he sure didn't own up to it or show remorse in the immediate aftermath at Baylor. One could argue that he was trying to keep himself from admitting to anything that could be used against him in a civil case, but still.
Something I'm surprised about, is that he had a lot of drama in the high school ranks in texsa. I've never been able to put together a timeline of events, but there were things about players being urged to play with injuries with help from cortisone shots (real Bud Kilmer type stuff), and some type of cheating scandal that I've never been able to get a straight answer about what it was, exactly (I've heard spying on other teams, but that's totally a rumor). Then there's just non-sportsman type stuff like trying to score 100 points on teams and junk like that. Even if only a fraction of all this stuff is true, it's pretty clear that Briles is not a good guy and doesn't deserve any of my pity.
I'd also be very interested to know what he muttered to Bob Stoops, with his hand over his mouth, after the 2015 game in Waco. In my head, he was complaining about our guys playing with an edge and borderline dirty, which I find hilarious, since that's exactly how he coached his guys to make Baylor relevant. He just didn't like someone doing it to him. I guess it's getting close to that time of the off season, where I can watch the 2013 Fiesta Bowl where UCF beat Baylor after Baylor acted super cocky all week and during the game. There was a UCF player and trainer who took to twitter a couple years ago, to talk about just how cocky Baylor was throughout that whole game, even while getting beat.
Sorry for the long post... that's how much I dislike Briles and Baylor.
With regard to Briles, it's important to distinguish between forgiveness and trust. Briles can be forgiven (though I don't think he's asked for forgiveness nor admitted any wrongdoing). But even if he did, forgiving him doesn't mean he's trustworthy. To trust him means that we believe that he has dealt with the issues that caused his transgressions in the first place. A drunk can recognize he is a drunk, be sorry about everything he's done while drunk, but still go back to the bottle when he gets stressed. He can be forgiven, but not trusted.

he's coached in Europe and in the high school ranks recently. I am pretty sure he left both of those jobs because he wanted to move up, and not because he was fired. Those jobs could be his opportunity to show that he's reformed, but he hasn't stayed long enough to show it. I don't know if those settings would ever be enough to show the general public, but if that's me... I take what I can get and try to do everything right.

I often wonder how the big guy Joe was elected President of the United States of America when if he ran in the local Justice of the peace I don't think he could win. Just think if any of us ran for any local office and you had a son that: *is a crack addict *video of him smoking crack with hookers *video of him having sex with underage girls *takes showers with his teenage daughter *divorced then married his dead brothers wife *cheated on that said wife with a stripper *had a child with that said stripper and tried to deny it until the dna proved it was his child *tried to not pay child support for the said child to the stripper *has lied about it all and shoved in in our faces because he knows nobody will or can do anything about it, when any of us or Joe Public would be in prison by now.
Do you think you could even get elected as dog catcher if your son was that messed up and you did that poor of a job raising him? I guess you could call him the smartest man you know and it would be all fine with the media as long as you are for progressive ideas. He must be one heck of an artist too!
