I've said all along that I believe Bowlsby will do everything possible to keep the 2 cash cows in the conference as long as possible. It makes no sense for the Big 12 to negotiate a lower exit fee, nor does it make sense to have the 2 big dogs out of your conference earlier than they are contractually obligated. I mean, who is going to be the big boy in the conference when OU leaves? oSu? Baylor? Iowa State? I'm guessing it will ultimately be BYU, but maybe Cincy can keep the momentum going. I just don't believe in Cincy as a program capable of sustaining success. Any way you slice it, none of them are marquee programs and none will be big TV draws.

Therefore, I do not believe we will be making an exit prior to the end of our Big 12 contract in 2025. It would be cost-prohibitive to pay the exorbitant fees to depart early, even with higher SEC paydays. It would take longer to recoup the difference than it would to play out our last 3 seasons.

I'm okay with that. It gives BV & Co. some time to recruit and build the program up to the level it NEEDS TO be. It should be an easier slate going through the Big 12, picking up a few more conference championships along the way. Hell, maybe BV gets us an NC before we make the jump to the SEC (hey, I can dream, can't I?).

Does OU have suit grounds if the B12 tries to add schools before 2025? If the conference wants to add BYU or Cincy prior to 2025, shouldn't OU be able to sue their way out of the contract?

If that’s the case then OU and UT can vote no on conference expansion until they leave, doesn’t it have to be unanimous? Cincy, UH and the other two would have to wait as well if Bowlsby wants to play hardball.

I wonder if the fact that CFP Expansion plans have been shelved until 2026 has also cooled OU's jet about moving to the SEC. When the move was originally announced, expansion to 12 seemed imminent, but not now. OU stays in Big XII and not only upgrades the infrastructure of the football program to SEC level, but they also have a better shot for the CFP. Just a thought.

I hope that there is some behind the scenes negotiating going on. I want OU to leave ASAP and hope to be gone before expended teams join the Big XII. Dragging this out is not good for either side.
