See if you can find some speedy receivers for us. Tell them it's easier to run down the field and catch a ball than to push a bobsled.
Over. We played close games with an awful D and a predictable to defend O. Yes, we have some unprovens. But, I think the improvement of our D is under estimated. On D, I think we have coaches that will allow D players to get in rhythm and can make half time adjustments that acutally work. I believe our O will have a significantly higer ratio of scoring to possessions. I also will think this years O will make more first downs, relying less on the big play. That should show up in 4th quarter.
I wouldn't be surprised to see us lose as many as 4 or win as many as 10. But I lean closer to the more losses category. We're replacing so many players, implementing new offensive and defensive systems, lost arguably the best kicker we've ever had. Wholesale changes like the DL, secondary, OL, etc., just don't usually spell immediate success. Better coaching and S&C are great, but they can't work miracles.
I'm hoping the rest of the big 12 takes a big step back too.

our D will be light-years beyond what we've suffered through the past few years and will improve as the year progresses- that alone gives our O more series' to capitalize on... the O is in the hands of a guy that has run the system before under the same guy so that, too, will surprise as far as being ahead of the curve. we've got plenty of skill guys in skill positions- my biggest concern is 1) the trenches (mainly OL) and 2) the health of QB1
as far as the rest of the conference, there were several teams laden with super seniors last year that will no longer be there so i see them taking a step or two back

UTEP - The talent difference should be enough to win this one though there may be some struggle early as players adapt to the new system. Kent St - Same Nebraska - If the name means something then this could be a close game. But this is a team that beat one P5 school last year and that school had three total wins. KSU - KSU has given us fits recently because they were tougher and paid more attention to details. Schmitty should take care of one and BV the other. TCU - The talent differential should take care of this one though it is on the road. UT - It's a rivalry game so who know but Sark has shown he's a mediocre HC KU - It's KU and we aren't UT ISU - They lost a ton. Campbell may have peaked or they just weren't ready for the limelight last year. Again ISU beat us because they were tougher and better prepared. Shmitty and BV are the answers to that. Baylor - Probably our toughest opponent. Last year they were tougher and better prepared. This year Schmitty, BV, and we are at home. WVU - It's at WVU, but we've never lost to them in Morgantown. OSU - Their good defense was probably a short lived experiment. They lost their DC and much of their team. It's at home. TTU - By this point in the season all the systems should be in place.
I expect we will probably be favored against all of these team by the time the game gets there of course barring QB1 getting hurt or lots of injuries. I could see us losing a couple, but not four.
