I thought Lebby was after dual threat QB's for his system. Isn't this kid classified as pocket passer? I've been fed misinformation if so.
Watching his highlight, I'd say he runs well enough. He's definitely a willing runner. I'd compare his running ability to Mahomes. Not great, but definitely serviceable.

I’m no expert but he looks good in the pocket, keeps his eyes downfield. Seems to throw well on the run. His release looks a little funky to me, like maybe his front leg is too stiff, but what do I know. I’m stoked to have him on board!

I've read in one of the write-ups about him, that he runs a 4.4 (I think reported from his HS coach... so take that for what its worth.) He's classified as a Dual-Threat on other recruiting websites. Watching his highlight tapes, he does take off QUICK on designed run plays. I'm not worried about his running ability.

Dual threat or not he is very productive at a high level in Texsa HS football. I think I read where this was his first year starting at QB, so he's very raw with lots of room to grow.

No matter how he is classified, he is a very good runner. Not only does he have speed, he can use downfield blocking very well. He runs a "texsa" system, (Briles spent a lot of time teaching his basic system to HS coaches), that functions similar to Lebby's.
The Pro may come from the fact that he has few real designed run plays, but does play in RPO and runs when he chooses, just like Lebby. But, when things break, he can definitely run and run well
Agreed. From what I've seen, he's got a real quick burst when he starts running. Exciting to hear he may still be learning the position, because he looks pretty good already!
Would a QB like this, who has running ability, get some time with DeMarco to continue working on his running game here? Maybe during the off-season / unofficial workouts?
I wish we could just shut it down here and not spend time on Manning, but know it doesn’t work that way. We have seen that if you do that you may wind up with an empty bag. With the portal and NIL you have to even recruit your current team.

I think BV's methods will prove valuable in this era. Building relationships with the players makes them more likely to stick around. It seems like, for many of these players, the last positive attention they get is during their recruitment. Coaches move on to the next recruit and forget about the guy already in the house.

Look at Clempson for an example. How many of those kids LOVED BV, but chose to remain with Dabo and the program to which they committed? If BV builds something similar here, OU may well survive the apocalypse known as NIL Portal Kombat.
